Question One:
An investor places 200,000Frs in a financial institution with the objective of raising 1,500,000Frs CFA. He
needs this amount to start a small-scale business. With an annual interest rate of 12.5 percent, how long will
he have to wait before his goal is realized, if interest is compounded: (i) annually, (ii) quarterly, (iii) weekly,
(iv) continuously?

Question Two:
A trader uses q units of goods at price p = 400 – 0.02q. The total cost of producing q units is
C = 100q + 1000. How many items should the trader sell to maximize profit, what price should be changed
to maximize profit and what is the maximizing profit?

Question Three:
If a company makes a loss of -15 million in 2010, business analysts predict that the company will make a
loss of -57 million in 2031, also it is observed by business analysts that the company’s losses are in an
arithmetic progression. For better business policy, it is required to know the losses of the other years. What
were the losses made by this company for the periods 2015 to 2020?

Question Four:
Given the functions p(x) = x

and q(x) = x + 1. Verify if the functions are injective, surjective and hence
bijective. Compose the two functions to obtain q(p(x)) and p(q(x)). Are these two composed functions
bijective? Solve the resulting quadratic equations q(p(x)) = and p(q(x)) = 0
