Instructions: Answer clearly ALL questions. Use only one graph paper.
Exercise 1( 10 marks)
1- Draw RLC series circuit supplied by an alternative generator, where measurements should be read using an oscilloscope such
that channel I (CH.I) should read voltage across the function generator, and channel II (CH.II) should read the voltage across the
resistor. (10 marks)
Exercise 2 (35 marks)
In the lab, one measures the period T as function of the length L of the pendulum. The data obtained are shown in the
following table:
L(cm) 20 30 40 50 60 70 80 90 100
T(s) 0.897

1- Sketch the graph T
2
= y = f(L), (y=T
2
as function of L). (5 marks)
2- Using the least square method, assume that the relation between y=T
2
and L is in the form y-αL+β. Compute α and β. (10
marks)
N.B.: For a couple of points (x, y) related by the relationship y= αx+ β, α and β are defined as:
∝=

4- 3- In the same graph paper of question 1, sketch the graph
y = aL+p
obtained from question 2). (5marks) Deduce the
relationship between the period T and the length L. (5 marks)
5- Deduce the value of the acceleration of gravity. (10 marks)
Exercise 3 (25 marks)
1- Draw a circuit supplied by a power supply which helps to determine the unknown resistor R2 which is in parallel with the
resistor Rl=517 Q. (10 marks)
2- By varying the voltage across the power supply, we record in the following table, the voltage V across the unknown resistor
R2, and the current I in the circuit:
