Question one
Wirsiy and son Furniture Company produces inexpensive tables and chairs. The production process for
each is similar in that both require a certain number of hours of carpentry work and a certain number of
labour hours in the painting and varnishing department. Each table takes 8hours of carpentry and 4hours
of painting and varnishing shop. Each chair requires 6hours in the carpentry and 2hours in the painting
and varnishing. During the current production period, 480hours of carpentry time are available and 200
hours In the painting and vanishing time are available. It is anticipated.th t at least 80 tables end 12 chairs
n be produce in a day. Each table sold yields a profit of 14 francs cfa ; each chair produced is sold for a
10 francs cfa profit.
Wirsiy and son furniture's problem Ts to determine the best possible combination of tables and chairs to
manufacture in order to reach the maximum profit.

b) Convert the problem to the proper simplex form(5mks)
c) Solve the problem using the Simplex method(30mks)
