A company in Douala produces three types of products called "Zaki”, "lobaka" and “Elixir". Two units of “Zaki”
needs 2hours of labour, 6hours of machine time and two tons of raw materials. “Tobaka” requires 4hours of labour
time, 2hours of machine time and 8tons of raw material. “Elixir” requires 2hours of labour time and 4hours of
machine time only. The total resources available are 869 man hours. 920 machine hours and 840tons of raw
materials. The profit combination for "Zaki", "Tobaka" and "Elixir" are 600FRS, 400FRS and 500FRS per unit
respectively.
You are required to:
i. Define your decision variables (3Marks)
ii. Formulate a linear programming problem using the above variables (6Marks)
iii. Formulate the dual of the model (6marks)
iv. Solve the linear programming problem using Simplex Method (l0Marks)
v. Test for optimality of your solution 42Marks)
vi. Derive the per unit cost of the resource-, used in producing the commodities 3Marks
