1a) what is meant by the concept of "linear Programming" and how useful is it in
decision making? (5mks)
1b) Account for the usefulness of duality in linear programming in modern decision
making (5mks)
1c) Based on the Abraham Wald's Maximin theoretical criterion and the Leonid Hurwics's
Maximax theoretical criterion design a hypothetical decision making alternative in a
production unit in your area of origin and show clearly how value judgment is made.

decision making framework:

case.

Y given available resources (R) to produce a given unit of output. He then formulated the
linear programming model as:
Maximise ∏ = 20X + 16Y
Subject to; 8X+4Y≤ 3,200.
4X+10Y≤ 400

(i)Using the graphical method to determine the feasible region of the above problem and
solve the problem completely (l0Marks)
From the primal of the linear programming formulate the dual of the linear
programming (5mks).
ii) Set up the initial simplex tableau including the necessary slack variables (3mks).
