Question one

State and explain the two types of statistical error that can be committed when conducting a
statistical test.
b)
Using an example, distinguish between a one and two tailed test showing clearly the rejection
regions on a diagram.
Question two
A brewery distributes beer in bottles labeled 32 cl. The local bureau of weights and measures
randomly selects 49 of these bottles, measures their contents and obtains a sample mean of 30 cl.
Assuming that the variance is 0.64cl. Is it valid at the 5 percent level of significance to conclude that
the brewery is cheating the consumers? (Critical Value = 1.645)

The marketing manager of an automobile company forecasted the sales for the different brands of cars
as shown in the table below. The observed sales are also shown in the table.
