Question one

You are interested in studying the problem of inefficiency of members of staff of a non-governmental

organization which employs 8,000 staff and engages in the production of palm oil. The performance of

the staff depends on their area of residence which can be grouped into four areas labeled A, B, C and

a) List the stages to be used in selecting the sample.

b) Carefully explain how you will choose a representative sample of 1,000 from the areas if 500, 2000,

2500 and 3,000 individuals live in area A, B, C & D respectively.

c) If you were to use a questionnaire in collecting the information, state 5 closed-ended questions that will

be included.

d) In administering the questionnaire above, list three ethical issues which you will have to bear in mind.

e) List two variables which you will use in making recommendation for this study

Question two

Read the following objectives and questions that follow: the main objective of this study is to assess the

effect of job turnover on the performance of microfinance institutions in Cameroon. The specific

objectives include:

❖ To identify the causes of job turnover in Microfinance institutions in Cameroon.

❖ To examine the effect of job turnover on the profitability of microfinance institutions

❖ To determine the other factors that influence profitability of microfinance institutions in Cameroon.

❖ To make recommendations on how to reduce job turnover and its effect on profitability of microfinance

institutions in Cameroon.

Required;

a) Briefly discuss the various steps you will use in carrying out this study

b) Select a suitable title for this study.

c) Identify three research questions that are likely to constitute the problem statement of this study.

d) Develop two hypotheses for this study

e) Identify the research design you will use for this study

f) List for problems to be faced by this researcher when gathering information

g) Establish the techniques of data analyses and presentation that could be used to carry out this study

Question three: 20 marks

a) Briefly discuss the main components of the preliminary pages of your research projects and its relevance

b) Distinguish between a list of reference and a bibliography. Why should we use them in our research?
