Question Three (20marks)
a) Examine the constraints to research in Africa and the fact that Africa is a favorable sit for
behavioral research than material research (l0marks).
b) Discuss the fundamental of scientific approach, scientific theories, scientific laws and scientific
methods in social science research and account for the difficulties of applying scientific-based
methods in behavioral sciences (l0marks).

of November 2016 till date, abnormalities seem to have emerged in the North West and South West
Regions of Cameroon. Series of efforts have been made by the government to eradicate the
unexpected events to no total completion. It is expected that with adequate research, the rancor can
adequately be eradicated. Which type of research design is therefore suitable so as to generate
unbiased results and what method(s) of data analysis is or are expected to generate the needed outcome
(20marks).
Question Four (20marks)
Read the following objectives and answer the questions that follow:
The main objective of this study is to assess the effects of job turnover on the performance of Micro
finance Institutions in Cameroon. The specific objectives include:
To identify the causes of job turnover in Microfinance Institutions in Cameroon,
To examine the effects of job turnover on the profitability of Microfinance Institutions in
Cameroon,
To determine the other factors that influence profitability of Microfinance Institutions in
Cameroon,
To make recommendations on how to reduce job turnover and its effects on the profitability of
Microfinance Institutions in Cameroon
You are therefore required to;
i. State the steps you will use in carrying out this study.
ii. Select a suitable topic for this study.
iii. Identify three research questions that are likely to constitute the problem statement of this study.
iv. Develop two hypotheses for this study.
v. Identify the research design you will use for this study.
vi. Establish the techniques of data analysis and presentation that could be used to carry out this study.
Question Five (20marks)
You are interested in studying the problem of inefficiency of the members of staff of a University
which employs 8000 staff. The performance of the staff depends on their knowledge background
which can be grouped into backgrounds A, B, C and D respectively.

i. List the stages to be used in selecting the sample.
ii. Carefully show how you will choose a representative sample of 1000 from backgrounds A, B, C
and D if 500, 2000, 2500 and 3000 individuals are of backgrounds A, B, C and D respectively.
iii. If you were to use a questionnaire in collecting the information, state 5 close-ended questions that
will be included.
iv. In administering the questionnaire, list five ethical issues you must bear in mind.
v. List two variables you will use in marking recommendations for this study.
